The Oromo nation has lost one of its fiercest defenders of culture and history today. Sintayehu Tola Kenea was a giant of Oromo historiography who set the record straight on several of the Oromo nation’s untold stories. In addition to his unrelenting advocacy for Oromo history, the unparalleled work he did in getting the Oromo people’s heritages such as the Gadaa system inscribed by the UNESCO was a monumental achievement that will always be cherished by all of us.
We offer our condolences to his family, friends and the Oromo people on his sudden death.
