Oromia Tourism Commission team led by Commissioner Lelise Dhugaa met with representatives from Google Arts & Culture as well as Google Street View teams. The meeting mainly focused on a Google Arts and Culture pilot project about Oromia that the OTC has been spearheading, but also discussed were the potentials to scale up such projects across the region and the rest of Ethiopia.
Afterwards, the teams from OTC and Google visited the Artificial Intelligence Center at the invitation of the Director General of the Artificial Intelligence Institute, Worku Gachena, where a fruitful discussion on digitalization and tourism was held.
Tourism in this day and age requires the integration of modern technology and the OTC is working to forge the necessary alliances for a technologically advanced tourism sector. To this end, the Google Arts and Culture pilot project focusing on Oromia will be launched very soon, and we hope more such initiatives will follow it.
